Beacon At The Beachy Head Marathon!

Ollie Lashley

Sunday the 28th marked the day of the Beachy Head Marathon and Beacon were there to help support the event. We provided a number of CSAS officers to help direct traffic and ensure the general smooth running of the day. We got some really great feedback from runners and local members of the community alike including some below:

“Thank you for keeping us safe. You did a great job”

- @Foggy125

“Thanks for being there – great event, great support and marshalling”

- @Long_Run_Film

“Thanks for all your hard work. Much Appreciated”

- @timolloyd

Operations Manager Dave Selby was supervising the event for Beacon and said:

"Beacon provided a number of CSAS marshals carrying out traffic control on points in Eastbourne, Alfriston, Seaford and Jevington over the course of the event. I was lucky enough to supervise and visit each point at various stages of the race, my first point being the 4-mile marker in Jevington with the elite runners passing through in under 28 minutes and to see the same runners at Exceat only 8 miles from finish still maintaining an incredible pace.

The marathon is known amongst seasoned runners as one of the most demanding on the calendar with over 2000 runners taking part in the full marathon and 1000 entries for the 10k. I was amazed at the amount of roadside support on what turned out to be the perfect day for running.

The day for Beacon was a huge success with no traffic or runner related incidents and we look forward to next year."

It’s events like these that Beacon and its team really relish. Being such an integral and close part of the community makes the job so much more worthwhile. And being based in as picturesque a location as Beachy Head and its surrounding areas is the cherry on the icing on the cake! Big events such as the Beachy Head Marathon, that boast such fantastic turnouts and support, are a perfect fit for Beacon and it’s Eventsafe branch. Our team are all correctly licensed and our CSAS officers grant us the ability to provide the maximum level of safety and security to spectators and participants alike.
